Sound Healing Lotus Academy promote good health and Well-being overall.

Are you looking to get into better shape and become healthier or are you looking towards more holistic benefits?

There is so much information out there on Social Media, Websites etc, that it can be quite overwhelming and daunting when you are trying to better yourself.

The following article may kick start you or help you get started on your journey to better health looking at Diet and Sleep.

The first thing you could do when beginning your journey towards better health is to define where you want to go and how you want to get there. You should make both long term and short term goals and don't beat yourself up if you don't manage them.

Write down your goals so you can see them and remind yourself of them often. Research has shown that people who make goals and write them down are more likely to reach them. Once you have made the choice to live a healthier life, make a grocery list. Organic produce is on the increase especially, fruits, vegetables and other healthy foods.  Many change their diet completely even go Vegetarian, Vegan or if you don't wish to give up meat,  you can have a balanced diet by just making subtle changes and purchases.

The following are the tips and tricks for a new healthier you:

  • Eat A Balanced Diet

Try and have a balanced diet to ensure a good health. A well balanced diet contains carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. Drinking plenty of water is also a part of a balanced diet intake. You should be aware of your nutrition requirement and eat accordingly. If you opt for a weight loss program, do this under the supervision of a health expert. Remember, losing weight is not starving, but eating right!

  • Burn out calories:

You could follow a regular work-out regime to burn the excess calories and stay fit. You can start your day with maybe some activities like meditation first thing or if you have time, walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, walking on a treadmill or yoga or any other exercise best suited for you. It is recommended to get yourself involved in some kind of an activity, in a regular manner to lead a healthy life. Regular exercises prevent you from several health problems, strengthen your immunity power and make you healthier.

Walking has numerous of health benefits and it is a low-impact exercise. Walking is one of the most natural forms of exercise. Walking in a low-impact gentle exercise can lead you into a higher level of fitness and health. Here are more reasons why walking is good for you, and how to get started with a walking program.

Walking is an automatic, intrinsic human function, and it serves many practical roles. Strange as it seems, though, modern man appears determined to walk as little as possible. Not many people would walk five miles to work — but remarkably few choose to walk even a half mile to a friend’s house or a food store. And it’s not just a question of walking for transportation; moving walkways whisk us through airports, and elevators and escalators lure many able-bodied men away from stairways.

Walking can be the best type of exercise to lose weight and get in shape, especially if you have had a serious illness, injury, or have been out of shape of more than a year. It is also much easier to motivate yourself to walk than to do most any other type of exercise.

What you may not know is that you can make a dramatic change to your level of fitness, gain muscle, and losing fat by walking daily for the next six to eight weeks. This will also increase your metabolism, so if you combine walking with a healthier diet you will metabolise your food more effectively so you will lose weight.

  • How walking works

Like any other form of exercise, walking improves cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, vascular stiffness and inflammation, and mental stress which are all heart risk factors. And if cardiac protection and a lower death rate are not enough to make you walk, you should consider that walking and other moderate exercise programs protect against dementia, peripheral arterial disease, obesity, diabetes , depression.

  • Benefits of walking

Walking is just like any other exercise, can help you achieve a number of important health benefits. When you cut down on the fat and sugar that most of us eat and is now mostly in foods, by walking for twenty to thirty minutes each day, and continue this for six weeks or more, you are likely to experience the following results: health benefits of walking;

  • Walking strengthens your heart

Reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke by walking regularly. It’s great cardio exercise, lowering levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol while increasing levels of HDL (good) cholesterol. Studies shows that a 30-minute walk every day helps control the high blood pressure that causes strokes, reducing the risk by up to 27 percent

  • Don’t give stress a chance

Stress and anxieties are on the increase and is becoming part of everyone’s life due to the society we live in. However, there are many ways and means to handle it correctly to relax you can do this simply by the breath. Perhaps avoid unwanted arguments by others and try to stay calm, relaxed and composed. Try not make any hasty decisions and regret or get stressed up later. Involve yourself maybe doing things that interest you and calms down your mind. Sound & Vibration including Music can be a great help to unwind you. You can also practice meditation to de-stress yourself. Or simply join a Yoga class which is not over daunting if you have never tried a session.

  • Have a Good Night’s sleep:

A good sleep is very important as it can help you revitalise, rest and charges you up for a new tomorrow. Most of us require 8-9 hours of daily sleep. For a child, it may vary from nine to ten hours a day. But, too much of sleep can cause irritation, fatigue and laziness. So, be well aware of your actual sleep requirement.  If you have trouble sleeping, try before an hour or so before bed to listen to calming music, reading in bed is also a good way to relax and rest if you cannot sleep.  Try not pick up anything electronic, like laptops, mobile phones etc as this really can impact your mind wanting to go to sleep.

  • Cleanliness is Godliness:

Maintain hygiene at your home and workplace. You can also encourage the children and young family members to develop this habit. Wash your hands properly before you eat or whenever you come in contact with any particle that may cause infection. Keep your crockery clean and disinfected. Also, try to keep your house dust free and clean all the electronic appliances at home, like microwave oven, refrigerator, air conditioners, fans, etc. thoroughly. If you have pets at home, keep them clean and properly vaccinated.
